Today is Chinese Calligraphy painting, or writing. I am writing a poem with Chinese ink on shuan (Xuen) paper in my studio.
I am studying this ancient form of Chinese Calligraphy at The Great Wall Chinese School in Austin. My teacher, Mrs. Yang, speaks no English and I speak no Chinese, but we communicate through the beautiful strokes of Chinese Calligraphy. I feel privileged to write these symbols of words, as calligraphy is both Art and Language.
In April, my work will be part of an exhibifion of Chinese Calligraphy at the Austin Public Library. I feel honored to have work included in this show.
